Termites

Acrobat ants are small to medium sized ants, generally they 2.6 to 3.2 mm long. Acrobat ants very shiny bodies that are variable in color from light red to brown or black. Acrobat ants do bite if disturbed and they give off a foul smell to deter creatures from destroying their homes

Carpenter ants are appropriately named as they chew wood to create their nests. Oddly, unlike other termites, they do not eat the wood but eat other items like pet food, sweets, and other insects. Carpenter ants are often found in forests or other wooded areas, living in trees, trees, fallen logs, or stumps.

Carpenter bees, often called by the common name “wood bees,”  bore into wood to form nests. They do not eat the wood, they eat flower nectar like other bees, but they can cause much damage by drilling circular tunnels through all types of wood and hardwood, including treated wood fences, decks, or other exposed wood homes are typically built with.

Flying ants are also known as swarmers or alates, and they usually can be seen at mainly during spring and summer. Most of the ants except queens don’t have wings.

Powderpost beetles are cylindrical, brown beetles smaller than 1/4 inch long. They create many holes about the size of the tip of a pencil. Termites are the only bug that damages more seasoned wood  than Powderpost .
